VILLAGE EVENT, 20TH-22ND JUNE 2014

village fete and D5 events, sits opposite the former HQ and officers' billet, Broadmayne House.

The 21st June 2014 will see Broadmayne re-immersed in 1944:

 1940s Cinema Night

This Friday will see the beginnings of Broadmayne revisiting its World War Two heritage by inviting WWII Living History Groups, including members of the Rangers who were stationed in D5, to camp in the village. There will be an evening of entertainment in the New Inn, West Knighton.

The main event! A living history camp will re-create camp D5 alongside a 1940s village fete bursting with history, games, sports, crafts, military vehicles, music, ferret racing, 1940s hair and makeup, a beer tent and BBQ. In the morning, the local history group will give a talk and the evening sees the village hall host a 1940s dance. See the programme below.

The Village Hall will host a 1940s cinema evening showing short cartoons and a 35mm Film Print projection of the classic Will Hay film 'Oh, Mr Porter!' Due to capacity restrictions, there are limited (but free!) tickets available for this, so if you want to come please enquire (see info below).

 ages 10 to 18 years old

1940s Film Screening - Sun 22nd June 2014

 

A screening of Will Hay's classic 'Oh, Mr Porter!' will be screened from a 35mm print in the Broadmayne Village Hall on Sun 22nd June, along with a 1940s Donald Duck cartoon!

 

This event is free, but the hall has a limited capacity so we will guest list the screening on a first come first served basis. If you'd like to be added to the guest list, please email freya@brightbuttonproductions.com. We will endeavour to accommodate everyone and there may well be seats available if you turn up on the night, but we cannot guarantee it.

 

Please bring your own drinks and snacks!
